FAQs
Answers to the questions members ask most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, drop us a line at contact@vita-uk.com.
Membership
Is VITA Pulse free?
Silver membership is free for approved accountancy firms. Gold is by invitation only – extended to firms working closely with VITA.
How do I apply for membership?
Visit the apply page and fill in your name, work email, firm details, and postcode. We review applications manually and you’ll usually hear from us within two working days.
What’s the difference between Silver and Gold?
Silver gives you access to the Knowledge Library, Case Intelligence, Articles, and Video Library. Gold adds Toolkit (ready-to-use templates, checklists, and client emails) and Opportunities (sector-specific VAT opportunities packaged with everything your team needs to start the conversation with clients).
Can multiple people from the same firm join?
Yes. Each colleague should apply individually with their own work email. We can also extend Gold membership to an entire firm where there is an ongoing relationship – get in touch if that’s of interest.
Using the platform
How do I find what I’m looking for?
There are two ways to find what you’re looking for. Use the search icon in the header to search across the Knowledge Library, Case Intelligence, and Articles. Or use the A to Z bar on the Library and Cases pages to jump straight to entries starting with a specific letter.
Can I share Pulse entries with colleagues or clients?
Pulse content is for members. If a colleague would find it useful, the best route is to point them to the Apply for Free Membership page – membership is free and individually approved. Please don’t redistribute content publicly or to non-members.
Why are entries written at an “awareness level”?
Pulse is designed to help you spot issues and discuss them confidently with clients. It’s not a replacement for specialist advice on complex matters. Each entry includes red flags – situations where what looks straightforward usually isn’t – to help you recognise when to bring in deeper expertise.
How often is content updated?
We aim to add around 10 pieces of content per week across the library, cases, articles, and video content – driven by what’s happening in the sector. When there are important tribunal decisions, new HMRC guidance, or a published article from the VITA team, that’s where the content will be. Each entry shows a ‘last updated’ date so you can see when it was last reviewed.
Account and access
I’ve been approved but can’t log in.
Check that you’ve clicked the “set your password” link in the welcome email – that step is what activates the account. If you’ve lost the email, use the password reset link on the login page or get in touch with us.
How do I change my password or email address?
From your account page you can change your display name and password directly. Email changes are handled manually – there’s a “Request change” link on the account page that opens an email to us with your details pre-filled.
What happens to my account if I leave my firm?
Pulse accounts are tied to a work email at a specific firm. If you move firms, get in touch – depending on whether your new firm is a member, we can either transfer your account or close it.
VAT advice
Can I ask VITA for advice on a specific client situation?
Pulse membership doesn’t include client-specific VAT advice – that’s VITA’s paid advisory service. But if an entry has raised a flag and you’d like to discuss it, get in touch at contact@vita-uk.com and we’ll be happy to scope the work.
I think there’s an error or something is out of date.
Please let us know at contact@vita-uk.com – include the entry title or URL and a brief note on what you’ve spotted. Member feedback is one of the most useful sources for keeping the library accurate.
Is the content up to date?
We add and update content on a rolling basis and every entry carries a ‘last updated’ date so you can see when it was last reviewed. VITA Pulse is a free awareness resource, not a paid reference library, and while we do our best to keep content current we cannot guarantee that every entry reflects the latest HMRC guidance or case law at any given time. If something feels dated, we’d encourage you to research further or take specialist advice before acting on it. When in doubt, the VITA team is a phone call away.
